Of Montreal - “Wintered Debts”
Relevancy Rating:
1

Is Of Montreal just a failed art rock band that now puts on costumes and plays festivals for lamestreamers who want to be entertained by a zany indie show?
Basically, yes.

Theres a lot of different styles going on here, what can I expect from the rest of the album?
They make a lot of different styles work in this song, and not too subtly either. It’s just kind of crammed all together, it’s like a reuben sandwhich. Something for the chill wavers, the bleep bloopers, the freaker fans--they put a man on every base, which is also kind of a lamestream Foster the Ppl type of strategy.

It goes on a bit too long, why didnt they just stop it around five minutes?
Welcome to freaker rock, tacking on an incomplete piece of music at the end with a minimal (effort) segue. While the songs not too bad, thinking this works or that anybody who isn’t a already a fan would enjoy this is bizarre.

What kind of crazy surprises can we expect from this band in terms of marketing or limited pressings?
Not surprisingly, NPR will blow this band up hailing this as a worthy realease of true genius. Kevin Barnes will press 500 copies on wax layed in the middle of 500 individually hand painted toilet seats.
