Lana Del Rey apparently has a gimmick that ppl were trying to exploit for years. In 2009, she used her fake personality to star in some KEDS at, being all like "I love wearing KEDS at Coney Island." Props to KEDS for this MASSIVE score, now they have the rights to LDR's image, and they can get more buzz for their brand, trying to overtake Converse as the chill loafer tennis shoes vibe for chill shoe people.

In the video, Lana Del Rey does and says Lana Del Rey ass shit, being all like "I am inspired by vintage shit" and "I love beautiful things", basically beta testing her brand before it hit a timely niche and major label record labels were able to finally exploit her as a golden buzz cow. There are so many surgery rumors buzzing around abt her appearance, u have to assume that this might be the indie equivalent of footage of Michael Jackson when he was 'still black.'

Here she is stuffing cotton candy in her mouth bc it is vintage and nostalgic for an era where everything was beautiful and nothing hurt.

And as we learned this weekend, for Keds – the no-nonsense All-American sneaker brand you probably last wore as a kid. In 2009, the brand reinvented itself by inviting up-and-coming creative talents to design a shoe for them. Grant was one of the lucky ones, though we're just now getting to see footage from the partnership.

In the promo, Grant appears chipper, amiable, and unfettered by impending controversy. She is portrayed as a bottle blonde in the iconic Coney Island amusement park, a place she cites among her favorite people-watching places. "I write about what I know," she says, as she preens in a sundress, peachy Keds and heart-shaped sunglasses while one of her early, jazzier tracks plays in the background. She compares her writing methods to Francis Ford Coppola's, referencing his famous advice, "If you sit down to write at the same time every day, the muse always knows where you are." Though the ad is about indulging in summer kicks, it's also an accidental pop artifact. You can almost see the Del Rey persona forming in front of your eyes. "I just want to do something I can be the best at," she says candidly, while she grins and munches on cotton candy.

Alexis Krauss is one of the most desirable frontwomen in indie music, earning the nickname "Sexi Lexi" Krauss. It was only a matter of time before she went solo, experimenting with her own pure pop desires, instead of letting some other dude play weird, loud guitars and have her sing soothing vibes over them, then yell sometimes. Really confusing.

Alexis finally went solo and sang a hit new song at the Billboard Music Awards. She CRUSHED IT with her voice AND her stage presence. The crowd was truly WILDNOUT. It's only a matter of time before Lexi Krauss solo is one of hte biggest pop stars in the world.

Beach House some how went from 'vastly underrated' to 'way overrated' in a few short album cycles. Don't get me wrong, I vibe to the Beach Haus, but it can be pretty boring, especially on TV when they are just standing there trying to be deep. While there's nothing wrong with vibing to VixxLeggies, I sorta wish they at least did something stupid that was 'trying too hard' on here so there would be something to write about. Instead, they just do the Beach House thing. Not really a good sell for one of their concerts, unless you are age 13-17 and want to pretend you have 'grown up feelings' thru 'deep' music.

Maybe Beach House has taken a step back since Teen Dream...
Sorta wish they decided to sound more like Katy Perry's hit single "Teenage Dream"...

There is an old saying, "You can pull a crusty out of a dumpster, but you can't take the crusty out of the crusty, even if she's jetsetting around the world and cashing in on a six figure record deal from one of the richest labels in the world." Anyways, Grimes used to be a crustie, floating down Mississippi rivers, and whatever else Tom Sawyer-wave people do who don't want to use the internet.

In this video, she goes 2 Amoeba Records, one of the 'last standing authentic record stores in the world', gets 'gifted' some swag, then brags abt her swag. In the industry, there are various 'gifting' sessions, which basically means companies think u r relevant, so they will give u free stuff because u will wear it on stage/in photo shoots. Grimes used this opportunity to 'represent' Canada and show off her Justin Bieber fetish, then a bunch of other weird stuff that no1 will listen 2. HOnestly only watched ~1 minute of this.

Can record stores survive with the help of indie artists?

Just wanted to say SUP and that I've been working on some music of my own. Don't get met wrong, I'm really appreciative for my job at the Odd Future retail outlet store. We're even thinking about opening a new store at the Outlet malls. You know, the ones 40 miles outside of town where fat old ladies go because they think they are getting deals by driving so far away, and they make a day out of it and have a nice brunch at Cracker Barrell. It'll be sick. I hope I'm not transferred there, though.

I just want to get out of the shadow of the guys. You know, sort of like a spinoff show. Maybe like 'Frasier' after 'Cheers,' 'Joey' after 'Friends', or 'Maggie's World' after 'The Simpsons.' Even if I fail, I will know that I tried to make it on my own. Without any charity from the Odd Future guys. They treat me like shit all the time, but it's a good gig. I even get to date some one who was harvested in Demi Moore's womb. It's CRAZY to watch 'St. Elmo's Fire' and know that I have a personal connection to it.

Now that's what I call a brat pack!

Whaddup guys?

Things are going SUPER WELL in my life. So first of all, I'm a frigging TV star. I got my own show on Adult Swim called Loiter Squad. Sure, it was embarrassing to have to put a food in my mouth, but look at what's in my mouth right now... the product of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. As Matt Damon said in Good Will Swagging, "How do u like dem apples? SWAG!"

Things are going super well with Tallulah. I feel like she knows I am the most famous member of Odd Future, especially cuz I was able to snag her, some premium tabloid Hollywood a$$. Don't get me wrong, I treat her like a queen. Part of me feels paranoid that she only dates me to replace the youthful zaniness of Ashton Kutcher in her life. At the end of the day, it's pretty swag to get to hang out with the stars of Die Hard With a Vengeance AND Striptease whenever we eat dinner.

The Odd Future store is doing GREAT. I'm managing the shit out of it! We just got in these swag new tees! They have the Odd Future logo in this REALLY sick font that references something else from popular culture. You'd have to see it to understand. It's a bitch folding every one of them, especially now that I am famous. All of these tweens want to take pictures with me, and I'm all like 'UGH I HAVE A JOB TO DO' and they are like 'TAKE A PIC' then my gf walks in and she is like 'Why are you hitting on fans?" and I'm like "IM NOT IM JUST TRYING TO FOLD TEES AND PEOPLE WANT TO TAKE PIX WITH ME BECAUSE IM FAMOUS" and she's like "I'm the only famous 1 in this relationship" then I tell her "sorry" and we go out to eat some SWAG burritos at our favorite place.

HAve u ever had 'carnitas'? I think it Spanish for 'HELLA SWAG MEAT'.

What it's like to be the white guy in Odd Future: The Lucas Vercetti Story

Beach House receives potentially OVERRATED 9.1 from Pitchfork. Is the buzz drought over?

Beach House's 'In Bloom' is out, even though I think it leaked like half a year ago [in the standard increment of 'blog years' time], so no1 is even excited for it. Every1 was all like 'this is totally gonna save 2k12.' However, we haven't seen very many memes from them (tv performances, music videos, Vicki LeGrant magazine spreads), so I am not really sure what they are waiting for. They are probably paranoid about seeming like they are 'trying too hard' to be relevant and authentic.

Anyways, p4k gave the album a 9.1 and BEST NEW MUSIC status. After listening to several low quality streams many months ago, it was clear that Beach House didn't 'recapture the magic' of Teen Dream. Instead, they just have a generic sound, and apply the 'formula' as if they are Coldplay. Sure, you can get caught up in the vibe, and mystique of Vicki LeGrand on the regs, but then it's all just Beach House. That's chill. Just writing those 'pretty', cryptic songs with vague enough lyrics for indiestreamers to project more meaning into them than actually exists.

Who even cares what the review actually says because it is probably one of those ones that uses the word 'ethereal', automatically discrediting the entire 'piece.'

This 9.1 is SHOCKING, especially now that most fringe buzzbands that used to get 8.3-8.6 now are ending up in the 6-7 range. There is clear indie favoritism and alternative tenure being factored into this score.

Experts are forecasting a ~9.5 for Vampire Weekend, who are rumored [Editor's Update: CONFIRMED] to play Pitchfork Music Festival this summer.

Did Beach House earn this score based on 'previous accomplishments'/branding?
